Scheer's Martial Arts, is the official representative of the world renowned Carlson Gracie Team of Brazil. Carlson Gracie, known as the mastermind of the original Champion factory produced some of the worlds leading Brazilian Jiu-jitsu stylists who have gone on to build and develop their own teams such as Brazilian Top Team, and American Top Team to name a few. Under the guidance of 7th degree Carlson Gracie black belt Marcus Soares our team develops and grows, planting the seeds of the next generation.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is primarily a grappling system, the strategy is simple but effective. In reality, 95% of all fights end up in some form of a clinch that proceeds to the ground; this is the environment where Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu thrives. Ground fighting techniques utilize leverage and positioning, over size and strength. Various chokes and joint manipulations are used to submit or render the attacker unconscious.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has gained a large following due to its functional strategy and also the due to the popularity of Mixed Martial Arts. Events like the UFC has become one of the fastest growing sports in the world, The UFC was originally developed by the Gracie Family to show the effectiveness of their system, as fighters adapted a new art form was born, and is now referred to as Mixed Martial Arts or MMA.

Athletes take the most functional styles and cross train to better prepare themselves for the challenges of the contest. Muay Thai Kickboxing, Wrestling, Boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are the foundations that most competitors have found to be the winning combination.

Scheer's Martial Arts offers classes in Brazilian Jui-Jistu and Mixed Martial Arts. Most of our students are purely involved for the fitness and self defense benefits.
